I had a bad dream

I had a bad dream last night I dreamed that my new bike was stolen. I actually got out of bed and went to my living room and checked. I have a lock but I think I will buy a second one and another one for Blaze. I am also thinking about getting some locking skewers.

Thats my giant bike Izzo that was stolen in December. I hate the fact that humans steal.

My life-long goal: to ride a bike from San Francisco to Santa Monica. 2013…I told you I was going to own you and, well, I am.

I have since update this post as of September 1, 2013…….. scroll down for an update!!!

I am EXTREMELY excited to announce that I just registered for the 2013 California Coast Classic – an 8 day bike ride from San Francisco to Santa Monica – 525 miles!

Last year, I completed the two day version of the ride and it was definitely The Ride of a Lifetime. I met some incredible people along the way, and prior to the ride I had connected with Sean Conley, who started the team Playa Pushers a couple years back. They are a FUN group mainly out of LA, so I decided to join their team this year! I’m stoked for the ride because of the…

I know better …..

I haven’t done laundry in awhile and I don’t have any riding clothes. But I know I shouldn’t of gone out in what I was wearing. I was wearing loose baggy pants which I failed to properly tie to my leg. So you guessed it my pant leg got caught in the chain and it ripped all the way up to my knee. I tried to keep going but it was too cold. Lesson learned I hope.

Meet a goal

At the beginning of the month The Hulk and I had a conversation.  I was basically asking him what he thought a good goal would be we came up with 90 miles.  I would be able to finish.  I did my weeks total a day early I am at 121.12 miles. I still have a week left.  But what I need now is a good goal for increasing next month goal.  All suggestions are appreciated.

Easy Peasy

All hail the first flat of the year. Normally I would be pushing my bike home after I get a flat yelling and acting crazy.  Ok I don’t do that but I grumble a lot.  When my Giant Iguana Izzo wa stolen the took my frame pump, lock and moon fuzzy with them.  ( moon fuzzy is a cute little magnet pompom thing sold by the local boy scouts to raise money for trips and such).
My mom knowing I was bummed got me one of those C02 dispenser pumps.  I put it in my camel back.  (I even have an extra tube and levelers in there ) It has a couple of cartridges.  I didn’t think anything of it until I was riding during lunch one day.  I just finsihed 6 miles and was just reaching the point where I know I am about 2 miles from home.  When my bike starts making this annoying sound.  It sounded like my breaks were squeeking I sometimes zone out a bit when I ride.  So I had to double check that I wasn’t braking and then I looked down at my tire and it looks low.  Really low. I was just about to start whining and moaning.  When it hit me I have that CO2 dispenser.  I hooked it. I looked over the tire it was good.  Blasted some CO2 in it and was good to go.  I have been keeping an eye on it but so far so good.

Being Carless

When i came up with an idea of how to make myself loose weight. It seemed pretty simple to me I stopped using my car.  I had started working from home. So no need to drive to work.  I live about a mile from the laundry mat before I got the pod (trailer) I would put all my dirty laundry in an army duffle bag and walk down wash it and walk back. Before the pod Blaze and I would get our duffles take them down to the grocery store and ride back.  About 6 miles round trip.  Now I just take the pod I still make Blaze go I pull it home he unloads the groceries and puts it away.

A friend of mine still can’t understand it he keeps asking me why I would do such a crazy thing.  I live in the desert in the summer it will be up to at least 114° F in the shade.  My answer was that I need to create a situation that required me to work out.  If I need toothpaste I have to get on my bike or or walk to get it.  If I want clean clothes I have to move it.  I  even bike to the movie theater.

When I first started things got neglected.  Clothes got smelly really smelly.  I remember there being nothing in the fridge.  It took time.  I am eating a lot better I use the myfitnesspal app to watch my food.  I use the mapmyride app to track my rides.  I log everything if I hop on my bike for a trip to the hardware store it counts.  If I move I log it if I eat I log it. I can’t tell if I have lost weight because I have had two scales break on me last year.  First one I picked up to sweep under and the sensor foot came off.  Second one I paid more money for a better on and it was working great .
I get up one morning I step on it and it has an error so I put new batteries in and I get the same error.  Tried contacting the manufacturer and nothing.  So as soon as I have extra cash.  After getting new pedals and a new seat.  I will get a scale.  In the mean time I feel amazing.

I broke my seat!

I broke my seat!  I am using a noseless or hornless bike seat made by schwinn it was in my price range and I had another one on my giant for years.  It was even super shiny from use.  But this new one is defective.  I came in after a long ride and was coming in my gate wheb  I went to lean it on trash can so I could close the gate and it started to fall so I grab the closest thing I could which was the seat and I felt it move in an unnatural way.  I didn’t think much of it till my next ride.  and I was pulling my bike into the house and  Blaze says to me its nice out I am gonna clean my chain I’ll do yours too.  ( He is turning into such gentleman).  I leave my bike in my now carless carport and sit on one of the chairs outside to watch.  When I notice my bike seat is looking strange.  At first I think its cause I did a long ride so I double check with Blaze yep its looking weird.  So after the chains are cleaned up and oiled up.  Blaze moves the bikes ins
ide.  We take the seat off and take a look at it.  On the inside the plastic broke.  I can’t afford a new one so Blaze comes up with the idea to gorilla glue it.  I filled it up with gorilla glue last night before I went to bed.  I will be going on a ride in a few minutes.  Ill post if it works.

Red Light, Green Light

So I have been doing a lot of riding lately.  Almost everyday I did take one day off this month which was honestly a good idea. I now have it scheduled every week one day off.  I can honestly say it made me crazy to take a day off. This past month I rode 12 out of 13 days.  I was SORE!!! I had managed to find a new level of base hurt. So talking to my cousin The Hulk he decided I should probably rest or I’ll burn out.  I tend not to argue with him because he is a lawyer and gets paid to argue for a living that and he is my own personal jimmeny Cricket so for a day I did nothing I didn’t go for a walk, didn’t ride, and didn’t put in an exercise video. Nothing Nada Vilch Zero. I was like a little kid waiting for christmas I just wanted to take a quick spin around the park on my block like 30 times.  I was good.  Its been a few days since I did my day of nothing and honestly I feel AMAZING. I still am sore but its so much less now.  I even have more miles with the day of rest then I did without it this week.  I wil post the totals after todays ride tomorrow.  Last week I had a total of 34.33 miles as of yesterday I have 34.85 and I have a whole ride left.   I was looking online at local bike clubs but they all ride on days that I work.  But they do have a metric century and a half metric century coming up in October.  I think ill set that as a goal.
