I have had yet another flat. When I took the tire apart and the tube out same problem stem broken at the base. This makes three one front, two rear. I replaced the front tire with a different brand and no broken stem issue. I will replace the rear with the same brand. This morning I contacted the manufacturer of the defective tires and used not so pretty words. Hopefully I will get some sorta of satisfaction.

I went out this morning to get my laundry and there was yet another flat on Izzo’s back tire. I admit it my roads suck. The bike path is littered with pits and chunks of things pointy. The road near the arroyo is littered with glass. Its a horrible place to ride. I know this but its the only place I have. I pumped up the tire this morning when it gets a little lighter outside I will test it out. I never know until I put some of my weight on it. Hopefully it will last a few rides. I need stronger tires. I tried the filled tires but with my weight when I turned a corner and they slip right off. It was super not fun.
So I pumped the tire I got about a mile then I heard the familiar sound of the tire grabbing on to the road. That crunching sound the tire makes when its pulling free of the road its overheld. I pulled over got off and tried to pump the tire it didn’t work. I would at least get a couple of weeks out of a tire this is starting to get real old
I have had a string of bad luck lately. Every ride I have taken has ended in a walk home because of a flat tire. Finally yesterday I had success. I went about five miles. I know five miles doesn’t seem a lot when your in shape. But when you carry twice the amount of pounds then your body can carry five miles seems like a death march.
I also tried a new app I have a droid for a phone. So I tried the CycleDroid app so far I am liking it. I had gotten a bike computer that attached to my bike tire. But I didn’t like it. It asked me all sort of questions I don’t know the answers too. I like the app it told me I was going further then I thought I was. I also do alot of stopping. I still weigh over 300 pounds. So I sometimes will stop when I can’t go on I take a break and go on. The CycleDroid app does have one thing I don’t like I need actual time and the ride time.
I decided I couldn’t wait to get the new tube liner and tube yesterday. I may regret that when I am running out of food this week. Who knows. I also got bamboozled by Blaze to get him a kickstand.
I was already outside this morning checking out the new tube looks good. Might get a ride before my long commute from my bedroom to my office. I have a new goal that will help me with my old goal of going on the Camino de Santiago. I plan to go completely carless. I started work at home no commute I live like two blocks from a grocery store and about 6 miles from a walmart. So I think its a reachable goal. If your wondering about winter snow well we rarely get it I should be golden
I GOT A REAR FLAT THIS TIME!
This morning I have to dig the glass out of my tire and see if the tube is salvageable. I have gone on exactly three bike rides this week and have had two flats. My odds suck. The local bike shop offers a bike tire that has a two year warranty against flats. I can’t afford it right now. Sadly I have to wait till my next paycheck. I got paid today. I am hoping against all hope that I can salvage that tire. The longer I go without riding the easier it is to not go ever. I have a goal I am not coming anywhere near it.
What’s that have to do with my goal? Well I want to bike the Camino de Santiago its 800km and right now I can’t get more then a few miles before I have to repair my bike or replace or patch a tube.
I love my bike it’s like it was laying in wait for me when I rescued it from the weeds. I have lovingly repaired and cleaned and lubed my bike. It faithfully carries me. The tube and tire destruction has everything to do with where I live. Why do people think its okey to go around smashing bottles? I mean really?
I took the tube out of the tire stem was screwed again. So I did what I should of done the last time. Took the tire completely apart and wow my rim tape had harden and had ripped up and was basically sawing into the tube as I rode. 1.90 later and a new tube problem solved I hope
went and bought a new tire for the front pumped it on little hand pump rode like a quarter of a mile to the gas station finished filling up those last five pounds. Hopped on the bike rode about 2 miles then wham flat tire back tire. Do I have awesome luck or what?
I went out earlier today on a ride before I went to work. Got another stinking flat I was going to fast to avoid some glass. About two feet later I heard the swish and then no more air in the front tire for those of you counting that’s 2 flats this week. I need some suggestions on stronger tires
I don’t have a lot of money so when anything goes wrong with my bike I have to sometimes have to wait to get it fixed. My peddle disaster took me almost two weeks to repair. So being poor means I don’t live in the best area. My neighbor had a pitbull that they had for over a year and then decided to get rid of it. So I have a new dog. He is such a sweety if your me or my son. Other wise he is 80 pounds of pure muscles with a mouth described by my cousin The Hulk as crocodile like. I used to leave my bike chained to my car port and worry the entire time I was gone. I would worry that some hooligan would come in my yard and take my sweet Izzo. But between Orea my dog I have had since she was a puppy and my new dog Rocky. I invite you hooligans to enter into my yard at your own risk. May you enter in one piece and leave in pieces.
